HowToCrypt was founded in 2018 by a team frustrated with the lack of truly independent crypto exchange reviews. Most review sites are pay-to-rank or have undisclosed affiliate conflicts. We built something different.

How We Rate
Every exchange is evaluated across 50+ individual data points grouped into six core categories. Each category is weighted by its relative importance to the average trader.
Spot maker/taker fees, futures fees, withdrawal fees, deposit fees, spread analysis, and VIP tier accessibility. We calculate the true all-in cost of a $1,000 trade.
Cold storage ratio, 2FA options, Proof-of-Reserves audit quality, insurance fund size, hack history, and withdrawal security features.
Web interface clarity, mobile app quality, order execution speed, advanced charting tools, and beginner onboarding quality.
Spot, margin, futures, options, copy trading, earn products, API quality, and coin/pair selection breadth.
Response times, support channel availability (live chat, email, phone), quality of resolution, and availability in multiple languages.
Licenses held, jurisdictions served, compliance history, and regulatory actions or sanctions.
We open real accounts, time the KYC process, and document any friction in the onboarding experience.
We deposit funds via multiple methods (crypto, bank transfer, card) and record deposit times and any fees.

Lower-rated exchanges on our site often have affiliate deals; higher-rated ones may not.
